Ucotopia Design is a London-based creative studio, run by Yuko Sugimoto. Working closely and collaboratively with clients to create an intelligent and innovative design; identities, packaging, websites, publications, flyers to events and exhibitions for the world’s biggest brands, fascinating start-ups, to local artisans.
Successful projects come from developing a great understanding of clients and their need. I listen to client’s problems and take time to fully grasp their personality and objectives.
No matter the brief, working this way helps to develop a long-term relationships where I continue to create timeless and unexpected expressions that help to build desirable brands and services.
I enjoy what I do and so do my clients.

What People Say
“ Yuko designed a trade fair stand for my business which followed the brief exactly but with much extra import from her too. The result was excellent and she followed through before the set up and the first day to help with any possible problems. She is an excellent designer with great attention to detail and exciting ideas. She is also very pleasant to work with.”
— Lady Dyson, Founder and Designer of Deirdre Dyson
“ Yuko has worked on serveral occasions devising design solutions for our website and has assisted us with many graphic implementations for our company, McInnes Cook Light. All of her work has been both innovative and economical. I have no hesitation in recommending her if you want a bright and fresh approach to solving a design problem.”
— John Cook, Director of McInnes Cook Light
“ Yuko devised five completely different concepts for the Armstrong Nyman brand identity, all of which reflected different aspects of our publishing aims and we finally settled on a clever allusion to a bookshelf that incorporates Armstrong Nyman’s initials. It’s style is economic and bold; immediately recognisable on the spine of a novel and it gives the publishing business personality.”
— Karoline Newman, Armstrong Nyman
” I’ve worked with Yuko many times, early on commissioning a number of completely charming illustrations for a variety of campaigns. However, when it came to designing our new website Yuko offered a completely different skill set. The way in which she has interpreted this vastly different brief and set of requirements has displayed a range and versatility (and patience!) that ever never seen in a designer before. We’ll be back! “
